Job Description

Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL) has collaborated with FSR Global on advancing energy transition research, capacity building, and regulatory excellence. Our aim is to work in areas of sustainable development of power sector, which include, but not   limited to, regulatory and policy-based research, innovation in clean energy technologies, development of technology roadmaps,   knowledge-sharing trainings & initiatives, and capacity building in areas such as Smart Grid developments, Electric vehicles, energy   storage, distributed generation, and capacity building programs. Research Associates are required who can work in the field of research   and development along with TPDDL and FSR Global.  


Job Characteristics:


                Integrated Planning Analyst – Cross-Sectoral Systems & Strategy Expert

                The Integrated Planning Analyst will lead the development of roadmaps and long-term strategies to guide India’s energy transition.

The role focuses on integrated planning across electricity, transport, industry, and other sectors to design actionable transition pathways that balance economic growth, reliability, and sustainability.

Responsibility:

Road Map Development

  • Design and deliver long-term transition roadmaps aligned with national and state energy and climate goals.
  • Identify key milestones, technology pathways, and policy interventions required to achieve net-zero and energy-security objectives.
  • Support sectoral decarbonization plans integrating electricity, transport, hydrogen, and industry.

 

Multi-Sector Analysis

  • Conduct integrated planning of energy, water, transport, and industrial systems to assess cross-sector linkages.
  • Quantify system-wide impacts of sectoral transitions on energy demand, emissions, costs, and infrastructure requirements.
  • Evaluate interactions between supply-side technologies (renewables, storage, hydrogen) and demand-side shifts (EVs, electrification efficiency).

 

Strategic Scenario Design

  • Develop and analyse alternative transition scenarios, incorporating uncertainties in technology costs, policies, and behavioural trends.
  • Assess trade-offs across pathways in terms of cost, reliability, emissions, and social equity.
  • Benchmark Indian scenarios against international best practices to ensure global relevance.

 

Policy & Decision Support

  • Translate complex analytical outputs into clear, actionable insights for policymakers, utilities, and regulators.
  • Co-develop evidence-based policy briefs, reports, and regulatory filings with government and industry partners.
  • Provide inputs to integrated resource planning (IRP), national energy policies, and state energy action plans.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Energy Systems, Public Policy, Economics, Operations Research, or a related field.
  • 3–6 years of experience in integrated energy planning, cross-sector modelling, or long-term scenario development in research, consulting, or policy settings.
  • Hands-on experience with energy system or integrated assessment models (e.g., TIMES/MARKAL, MESSAGEix, LEAP, OSeMOSYS, GCAM).
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills; proficiency in Python, R, or GAMS for scenario and data analysis is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with Indian energy, climate, and sectoral policies and institutional frameworks. Proven ability to synthesize complex cross-sector results into strategic recommendations for decision-makers.
