Tata Power-DDL to run operation & maintenance fleet using E-VehiclesDate : Nov 13, 2019

Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd. (Tata Power-DDL) in its continuous efforts of giving impetus to clean and green technology initiatives is leading as a front-runner utility in the country by scaling up electric vehicles fleet. The company has rolled out a pilot project with Zoomcar in a phased manner under which initially 12 EVs of Zoomcar will be serving towards company's operations and maintenance activities including installation of Smart Meters in North Delhi.

Mr. Sanjay Banga, CEO, Tata Power DDL along with Mr. Sumeet Salhotra, Vice President- Operations, North India, Zoomcar flagged off the first phase of the utility fleet at Dheerpur Grid in New Delhi.

The move will not only help propagate the shared vision of the government for creating a sustainable mobility and environment by scaling EVs and improving Delhi's air quality, but will also help in lowering down country's overall carbon emissions.

Commenting on the launch, Mr. Sanjay Banga, CEO, TATA Power-DDL said, " As a responsible corporate and technology leader among the utilities, we are continually exploring new avenues to push cleaner and greener technologies which can bring a wave of lasting change. Through this initiative, we aim to support and complement the Government's strategy and strive to reduce dependency on petrol/ diesel vehicles and shift to electric vehicles."

Tata Power-DDL has also deployed other electric powered vehicles in its maintenance fleet. The e-powered fleet comprises of over 100 e-scooters, e- rickshaws. Going forward, the company aims to further scale up the numbers of e- cars to 250 in the fleet.
