High Court orders Police Assistance to Tata Power-DDL Staff for pole installation work for fixing dangerously dangling wires in Naraina VillageDate : Sep 25, 2020

• Unscrupulous elements have obstructed the work on multiple occasions in the past

Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (Tata Power-DDL), with the support of Hon’ble Delhi High Court issued an advisory informing the residents of Naraina to support them in the pole installation work to upkeep the overhead cables.

The company as per the maintenance norms tried rectifying the dangerously dangling electric wires in Naraina Village by installing 2 mid-poles but faced resistance from unscrupulous elements during the work. The said fact of interference was informed to the Hon’ble Court by the Company during last hearing which was taken seriously by the Court. 

In view of this concern and keeping the safety of the residents of Naraina in mind, the Hon’ble Delhi High Court, and in response to a Civil Writ Petition filed by 6 local residents (petitioners) has ordered the local police and the DCP to provide prompt assistance to Tata Power-DDL and prevent any obstruction during the installation of the support poles. The absence of support poles may result in accidents and electrocution of the passersby.

Tata Power-DDL in compliance of the order passed by Hon’ble Delhi High Court has commenced its work undertaking remedial measures to ensure the safety and security of the residents from the dangling electricity wires.  The company’s prime objective is to provide best of services to the consumers and ensure their safety. The company is making all possible preparations to assure timely execution of the poles and is also strategizing on the feasibility on underground cabling network system. In case of any space constraint for pole mounting,  the  Hon’ble Court has directed the petitioners to give their suggestions to Tata Power DDL  for exploring underground cabling. 

The company requests the residents of Naraina village to extend their support in safe-guarding them from any such threats and allow the officials to put up poles for securing the safety and security of the residents of the area in compliance of the Hon’ble Court’s directions.
