Tata Power-DDL Launches ‘Meri Paathshala’ Programme in Collaboration with Department of Education, Govt. of Delhi to Support out-of-school ChildrenDate : Aug 19, 2019


TPDDL launched ‘Meri Paathshala’ program in collaboration with Department of Education, Govt. of Delhi. The program was inaugurated by Shri Manish Sisodia, Hon’ble Deputy CM & Minister of Education.

With an aim to support quality education to the underprivileged children in its distribution area of North Delhi, Tata Power-DDL has launched 'Meri Paathshala' programme in collaboration with the Department of Education, Government of Delhi. The programme was inaugurated by Shri Manish Sisodia, Hon'ble Deputy CM & Minister of Education, Govt. NCT of Delhi in the presence of Shri Mohinder Goyal, Hon'ble MLA (Rithala); Mr. Sandeep Kumar, IAS, Secretary Education, Govt. of NCT of Delhi; Mr. Sanjay Banga, CEO, TATA Power-DDL and other senior officials from the Department of Education and Tata Power-DDL at the Govt. Sarvodaya Co-Ed Vidyalaya, Sector-6, Rohini, Delhi.

In the first phase of the programme, Tata Power-DDL will support 400 out-of-school children, in the age group of 6 to 14 years of Class- I to VIII, enrolled in 10 Special Training Centers (STCs) set up at 7 Delhi Government schools in North Delhi i.e. Rohini, Rithala, Narela, Tikri Khurd, Bakhtawarpur and CC Colony (Rana Pratap Bagh) starting from the academic year 2019-20.

The MoU towards the same was signed by Ms. Ranjana Deswal, Special Director, Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and Mr. Piyush Goyal, Head- Corporate Services, Tata Power-DDL.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Manish Sisodia, Hon'ble Deputy CM & Minister of Education, Govt. of NCT of Delhi, said, "We have been working towards achieving holistic development of the students of Delhi Government Schools and it is important for us to ensure that students from all sections of the society are being benefitted from the schemes and initiatives of the Government. Meri Paathshala is a unique joint initiative of Tata Power-DDL and the Department of Education in our mission to provide access to education to out-of-school children."

Under this programme, Tata Power-DDL will provide digital learning equipment including software through Tata Class-Edge and also training support to STC teachers for Digital Class rooms and make available other necessary learning material for them. The company will also provide motivational and counselling sessions to the students through NGO partners, initiate graffiti work based on educational theme in the STC rooms and necessary items like stationery, note-books, school bags, water bottles, lunch box, school uniforms, shoes, steel almirah, pin boards, curtains set up, indoor & outdoor games, puzzles, carom boards, abacus et al.


Commenting on the programme, Mr. Sanjay Banga, CEO, Tata Power-DDL, said, "The company has been actively engaged in working for the underprivileged children of the society in its area of operations to augment the quality of education in association with various agencies including Department of Education, Govt. of Delhi. Education is one of the key thrust areas identified in the CSR policy of Tata Power-DDL and 'Meri Paathshala' is a step in the same direction, it will help the out-of-school children to gain formal education and curate a brighter future through the power of education."

Besides the launch of Meri Paathshala, the Hon'ble Deputy CM, also inaugurated an RO water plant at the school, installed by Tata Power-DDL, to provide safe drinking water to the students and the staff. The plant was inaugurated in the presence of Shri Mohinder Goyal, Hon'ble MLA (Rithala) and Mr. Sanjay Banga, CEO, TATA Power-DDL. In addition, Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan's brochure on Special Training Centre and Tata Power-DDL's CSR Brochure 'Saathi' highlighting all its social innovation initiatives were also unveiled by the distinguished guests.
