Tata Power- DDL Launches Delhi's First All-Women Customer Care Centre in the Power Distribution Sector on the Occasion of National Consumer DayDate : Dec 24, 2018

Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (Tata Power-DDL), India’s pioneer power distribution company, today inaugurated the Delhi’s first all-women Customer Care Centre in the power distribution space on the occasion of National Consumer Day. The customer care centre located at Pitampura will be entirely managed by a team of 7 women who are trained to handle gamut of customer services offering such as new power supply applications, monthly bill payments and other customer related services, including addressing to Customers’ Concerns and queries.

The centre was inaugurated by Mr Sanjay Banga, CEO, Tata Power-DDL, Mr. M. Shenbagam, Chief Commercial, Tata Power-DDL in the presence of Mr. Sushil Kumar Srivastava, Chief HR & Admin, Tata Power-DDL; Mr. Subrata Das, Head-Operations, Tata Power-DDL; Ms. Kiran Gupta, Head – Customer Service & Key Consumer Group, Tata Power-DDL and other senior officials from the company.

Although the World Economic Forum's 2018 Global Gender Gap Report states gender equality is more than 200 years away, Tata Power-DDL has been constantly working with its various initiatives and policies in and around its work-sphere to bridge the gap. Tata Power-DDL has also been committed towards gender parity at work by recognising the diverse strength women bring to the organisation and curating workplace policies that are geared towards empowering the women employees. Through its various women dedicated initiatives like empowering through leadership positions, giving them challenging roles to develop their strengths, support during critical life stages, dialogue with CEO and mentorship by senior leaders, the company aims to empower women to lead by nurturing and developing their strengths.

Tata Power-DDL has been committed towards gender equality in the society and have taken several steps towards women empowerment. The company is working tirelessly in 220+ JJ clusters in its power distribution area of North and North-west Delhi to provide empowerment to women. Tata Power-DDL’s women literacy programme has helped more than 21,000+ women annually. Tata Power-DDL has also been awarded SKOCH Order of Merit & Silver Award 2016 for “Empowering Women Beyond Boundaries”.

During the inauguration Mr. Sanjay Banga, CEO, Tata Power-DDL said, Empowerment of Women means ensuring they have equal opportunities and the freedom to decide and control their careers and lives. It means giving them the choice to chart their own careers, enhance their skill sets and manage challenging assignments. I strongly believe every step towards bridging the gap, whether big or small, will help reach the milestone faster and help create and empower the next generation of female leaders. I’m sure our All-women Customer Care Centre will encourage more organisations to promote their women employees take challenging roles and excel in the same.
