Hon’ble Transport Minister-GoNCTD, Mr. Kailash Gahlot Flags Off New Electric Vehicles of Company’s Operational & Maintenance Fleet
The move will help in reducing air pollution in Delhi
Tata Power Delhi Distribution (Tata Power-DDL) has always been a frontrunner in promotion, adoption and implementation of green technologies. Further to the same, the company has included 2 new electric vehicles in its operations fleet. The new cars which have joined the previously inducted e-vehicles fleet comprising 90 + e-scooters, 37 e-rickshaws and 2 electric cars carrying out Operations and Maintenance activities will be engaged in Smart Meters installation in the North West Delhi.
The cars were flagged off by the Hon’ble Transport Minister-GoNCTD, Mr. Kailash Gahlot during the Delhi Urban Mobility Lab Solutions Workshop today at New Delhi.
In congested city areas, the electric powered scooters (e-scooters) help reach the destination faster round the clock. These scooters can easily maneuver in crowded areas, narrow lanes and can be parked in limited spaces without disturbing the traffic movement. These scooters can also reach places where cars and trucks are not allowed. For the rural areas, Tata Power-DDL has also deployed dedicated e-rickshaws to help carry out the maintenance work. Tata Power DDL is also including new EVs for Smart Meter installation activities. The e-fleet not only helps in speedier operations but also help in reducing the carbon footprints having no emissions. Tata Power DDL is committed to transform its fleet of vehicles to Electric Vehicles and is the first utility in the country on this journey.
The flagging off of the EVs was done on the sidelines of the Delhi Urban Mobility Solutions Workshop, which is being organised on 26-27 June 2019, to support the rollout of Delhi’s Electric Vehicle (EV) policy and its broader mobility goals by convening the public and private sectors to develop a number of pilot projects for implementation in the national capital. The Urban Mobility Lab is a platform that supports Indian cities in identifying, implementing, and scaling pilot projects and solutions that transform how people and goods move. The Delhi chapter of the Mobility Lab is being hosted by Delhi Dialogue Commission (DDC) in collaboration with Rocky Mountain Institute(RMI).
Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Sanjay Banga, CEO, Tata Power-DDL said, “As a responsible corporate, we are continually introducing new environment friendly initiatives, inclusion of e-vehicles in operational and maintenance fleet is a significant step in that direction.
